This course is designed for recorder players of all standards, from near beginners to advanced students. It began life as the Recorder in Education Summer School in 1948 and after many happy years in Bretton Hall, we now hold the course at Bishop Burton College, near Beverley. This turned out to be a very successful venue when we visited it for the first time in 2007.
It is a large course, with up to 130 students, and the atmosphere is always friendly and encouraging.
Each morning starts with a tutorial class. There will be advanced classes (by audition), intermediate classes, and also two permanent ensembles, at advanced and intermediate level. These two ensemble classes are for people who do not wish to work on specific solo repertoire. Here is a list of the 2011 tutorial music.
There are also twice daily ensembles, graded in order of difficulty, and students can attend whichever they choose. Here is a list of the 2011 ensemble music.
There is also a concert, open to the public. In 2011, we will be very happy to welcome Ross Winters and Tony Halstead.
