Sandra started playing the recorder at Teacher Training College, joined the SRP in 1971 and has been Musical Director and Treasurer of the Cleveland branch since 1979. Since 1996 she has also been on the panel of SRP Visiting Conductors, was an examiner for the CSRP, and has tutored on playing days, residential weekends and directed teachers' courses.
Over the years she has done a lot of recorder work in both primary and secondary schools, as well as teaching privately and at Middlesbrough College.
Sandra attended the Recorder Summer School for the first time in 1979, and hasn't missed a year since, taking over the administration in 1988. She has run the "Teaching the recorder" and "Light music and swing" sections of the course, and has tutored on the course since 1999.
